The literary life of EDWARD JAMES, author, reviewer, occasional poet and former pension adviser to the government of Kyrgyzstan
I’m just back from Manchester – more exciting than it sounds, at least to Southerners – and I thought I would give a boost to the Imperial War Museum North. It is obviously much smaller than its London parent and has a lot less hardware but it has a very interesting set of modern display techniques. The shape is inspired by a bomb damaged building – yes, we build bomb damage now that the old stuff has been cleared away long ago.
Next week the new Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth.
