The literary life of EDWARD JAMES, author, reviewer, occasional poet and former pension adviser to the government of Kyrgyzstan
At the last meeting of Cheltenham Writers’ Circle the chairman presented a cheque for £99 to one of the volunteers from Winston’s Wish, the national charity for bereaved children, based in Cheltenham. The money was raised by sales of the Circle’s anthology, Hillside Voices.
As editor of the Anthology I have decided to give it a rest for a while and instead to run an open short story competition, which we will advertise nationally. This will be launched next year and we have chosen a maritme theme to commemorate the centenary of the battle of Jutland. The Cheltenham Arts Council has kindly awarded us £200 towards the administrative costs and publicity. Full details will be on the Circle’s website, on the social media, and wherever else we can manage.
