The literary life of EDWARD JAMES, author, reviewer, occasional poet and former pension adviser to the government of Kyrgyzstan
Have you ever thought what happens to all the rubbish that you put out to be collected by the binmen? I decided to find out and organised a visit on behalf of the Engineering Group of Cheltenham U3A to the Suez Recycling plant at Avonmouth, near Bristol. Suez is one of Britain’s largest recycling contractors and the Avonmouth plant handles municipal and commercial waste from a wide area of the West Country.
Suez did us proud, with a presentation, tour and excellent lunch. The Q&A session was very lively. There were 13 of us in the group and here are some pictures of us in our safety gear and some of the things we saw.
