History on Ice

Historical  novelists are attracted to ice, not just in their whisky.  In this month’s issue of Historical Novels Review (August 2019) you will find an article by myself, reproduced as a page in this blog, titled ‘History on Ice’.  It reviews some of the extensive historical fiction set in the polar regions and meditates on the tragic theme which runs through it.
